Hey fam it’s almost the end of summer, and we’ve got something good coming up on Thursday, Sept 1 @ Elevator Shanghai. It’s a night of cartoon screenings, hazy beats by the homie Damacha, and rare desserts (Parfaits!!) by Ox from The Shanghai Bakery. The poster by Cecilia is insane.
We’re dropping the first in a series of eight limited-edition, hand-printed Love Bang shirts. Each piece tells the story of one of Xu Dong Mei’s eight cat babies and their lives in the big city, and this one is about her firstborn son, Xu Xiao Qiang. He’s a hardworking, loyal, and stubborn jian bing seller who can fight like hell if he’s pushed too far. Only thirty shirts available in China, each screen-printed by hand in Kalamazoo.
At the party: For your viewing pleasure, Love Bang have curated “Video Parfait” (2016), a trippy, three-hour mash of obscure but essential cartoons, cut up with PSAs, classic commercials, animated music videos, and puppet insanity. If you remember the PSA compilation we dropped a few years ago, it’s like that but bigger. For snacks, we have the ultra limited-edition Love Bang Parfait, made by Ox from The Shanghai Bakery, plus bowls of classic cereal and fresh juice.
Cartoons go from 8pm-11pm with an intermission for the coloring contest, followed by music, dancing, and ping pong. It goes down at the neon nest, Elevator club on Xinle Lu, a.k.a. New Happiness Road.
Address: 4/F, 新乐路218号, 近富民路 (218 Xinle Lu, near Fumin Lu)
